The Diploma in Nursing (General Nursing & Midwifery)


This course has been designed to develop an attitude in the students, provide necessary knowledge and skills to recognize and intelligently interpret the physical, the mental and emotional manifestation of illness and prepare them to plan individual nursing care based on their unique needs.The programme also helps students to develop abilities to work with another specialist medical and paramedical personnel, devise and demonstrate disease prevention and health promotion programmes, integrate principles of hygiene, ethical and moral codes are aspects taught in the programme. On a higher scale, tools to research, apply advances in scientific field and technology are built in Nursing programmes.

Duration : 3 Years & 6 Months

Eligibility: Pass in 10+2/PUC/PDC or Vocational Higher Secondary education with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as optional subjects.

B.Sc. Nursing (Bachelor of Science and Nursing)

Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing or B.Sc Nursing is a 4-year professional course. In India, the course is registered under and is controlled by Indian Nursing Council. This course focuses on the promotion, upholding and reinstatement of health and to the avoidance of disease. There are mainly two Bachelor programs in Nursing available in India,

Duration: 4 Years

Eligibility: A candidate shall be eligible for admission if he/she has passed the 10+2 examination conducted by the State of Karnataka or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as optional subjects, & including English or an examination recognized by Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences.

M.Sc. Nursing (Master of Science and Nursing)

Post Graduate programme is essential to prepare nurses to improve the quality of nursing education and practice in India. Postgraduate programme in nursing builds upon and extends competence acquired at the graduate levels, emphasizes the application of relevant theories into nursing practice, education, administration, and development of research skills. The programme prepares nurses for the leadership position in nursing and health fields who can function as nurse specialists, consultants, educators, administrators and researchers in a wide variety of professional settings in meeting the National priorities and the changing needs of the society.

Duration: 2 Years

Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing

This course will help students develop an understanding of the philosophy, objectives, and responsibilities of Nursing as a Profession. The purpose of the course is to orient to the current concepts involved in the practices of Nursing and developments in the Nursing Profession.For the Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing course, there shall be two university examinations, one at the end of the first year of the course and other at the end of the second year of the course.
